The Siberian Husky is one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. The dog is loved all around the globe, and many people want to keep one because of its wolf-like appearance. However, that’s not all. There are quite a few reasons why you might want to consider getting a Siberian Husky, but you should know it primarily depends on your temperament.

However, talk to any person who knows a thing or two about dogs, and they will tell you that the Siberian Husky is not an easy dog to raise. The Siberian Husky is an intelligent working dog breed that was raised by the Chukchi people in a part of Siberia.

Today, it is a popular pet. However, you should know that there are several reasons to not buy a Siberian Husky. Let’s discuss a few.

They Have a Lot of Energy

One of the most obvious things that you should know about this dog is that it harbors an immense amount of energy inside. This is a working dog breed, and it has an immense amount of energy inside, to the point that it can tire out its owners. Taking the dog out for a run at least once a day is very important.

Even then, you should know that the dog is going to continue running around the house and will jump from one place to another. This dog has the never-ending desire to just run all around the house. Some will also tell you that one day’s walk isn’t enough; this dog needs to be taken out at least twice a day to satisfy its energy requirements.

If you do not take the dog out for a run and the animal doesn’t find any outlet to expend its energy, you should know that it will soon turn quite destructive. It’s going to start chewing your slippers and will tear into your furniture, and that can soon turn into a problem.

They Can Escape From Virtually Anywhere

Another thing that you should know about this animal is that it is extremely intelligent and will find its way out from anywhere. While the dog is in your house, it’s going to be all content as long as it is getting attention. However, as soon as you stop paying attention to the dog, it’s going to get hyper.

As a result, the dog will immediately try to escape wherever it is trapped. If the dog feels confined in a room, it will start trying to paw its way at the door, and will try to figure out just how to get it opened. In their desire to escape from different things, the dog will simply cause damage to other things in the house.

In fact, the Husky is an incredibly resilient breed. This dog is capable of jumping upwards to heights of around nine feet and climbing out. If you are thinking that there is an obstacle in front of the dog and it will remain safe, you are highly mistaken. The Husky will find its way out of virtually anything.

They Shed Fur – A Lot

For those who don’t know, the Siberian Husky is a big shedder. In fact, these dogs tend to shed a lot. You might already have done a bit of reading about their shedding, but trust me, you will not be prepared for the sheer amount of fur that they tend to shed over time.

You will need to invest in a high-power vacuum cleaner so that you can clean up your furniture and other surfaces that are going to be full of the animal’s fur. You should know that their fur is going to cover almost every exposed surface in your house if you are not careful.

The Siberian Husky has a dense undercoat that tends to fall out twice a year. There’s also a primary coat that includes guard hairs, which is a bit longer than the undercoat. This coat provides another layer of insulation and prevents the animal from receiving any insect bites or infections.

You Need to Prepare Yourself

The Siberian Husky sheds so much fur that many people can even make things out of it. The best way to take care of this problem is to make sure that you vacuum daily. Needless to say, these dogs require a considerable amount of maintenance, and you will find yourself running about cleaning up the furniture on a daily basis.

They Are Stubborn

Another thing that you should know about these animals is that they are quite stubborn. If you want an obedient dog, you are going to have to spend a great deal of your time and energy in training the dog. Even then, there is always a possibility that the animal won’t listen to you.

These are stubborn animals and it’s going to be difficult for you to get this out of the animal. This is just the stubborn nature of the animal, and it’s just part of the package. You can just try and train out this behavior, but it’s going to be very difficult. There are going to be times when the animal will simply not listen to you.

Don’t Expect a Lot of Love

Let’s get some important things clear: the Siberian Husky doesn’t need you. The dog might need you to provide food and other things, but it’s really never going to want you. If you are looking for a dog that will sit by you and reward you with love and loyalty, this isn’t the breed to go for.

You shouldn’t expect this animal to curl up besides you and spend its time just lying beside you. But, you will be the most important part of the dog’s life. Essentially, the dog will look toward you and will follow you around the house. But, this will only happen for a few minutes or so, after which the dog will go on its way.

If you want a dog that is going to shower you with licks and its love, you might want to consider going for another dog breed. They are generally quite independent animals and will do whatever they want to do. When they are out and about, this might turn into a problem, because the dog won’t always want to follow you around, even when it is on a leash.

A Fun Companion

However, say what you will, the Siberian Husky is by far one of the most fun dog breeds in the world. The fact that it is independent and needs mental stimulation also means that you won’t always find yourself running after the animal. If you need a dog that will be more of a companion, you might want to consider getting the Siberian Husky.

All in all, the Siberian Husky is a great dog to keep around the house, as long as you have a spacious backyard where it can run around. You will also need to take out at least two hours in a day for the dog.
